Meow, Hiss: Unleashing Our Inner Pussycat Doll

We recently got notice that "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search For The Next Doll" will air in the 9:00-10:00pm time slot beginning Tuesday, March 6th. And while we have no particular problem with the Dolls – seriously, could the music industry even survive without a constant supply of new stripper-rific manufactured pop tarts? – we do find it ironic that the show will be taking over Veronica Mars' spot on the schedule (just for awhile, V-Mars fans, not permanently! Don't freak). Get more CW schedule change info here!

We've always been of the opinion that the group was more focused on boobs than brains, but perhaps we're wrong. After all, CW Entertainment head Dawn Ostroff says this show – and the group -- goes beyond hot bods: "At its core, this show goes beyond just finding a new Pussycat Doll; it's about female empowerment, self-discovery and personal transformation."

And the series is produced by McG, who also gave us Supernatural (love!) and also had a hand in The O.C., not to mention directing movies like Charlie's Angels and We Are Marshall. He says he wants to see what goes in inside the girls (and occasional female impersonator) who are auditioning: "I'm most interested in the personal drama, about the (candidates) leaving their relationships or trust issues with their parents. It's about all the real-life stuff that lies within."

McG also says that there's a Pussycat Doll inside every woman. And while part of us thinks that the only way we'd have a Pussycat Doll inside of us is if we ate her (not that it would be much of a meal, with all that silicone), we're willing to give it a shot.

What do you think? Do the Pussycat Dolls push your Buttons? Will the show be Hot Stuff, or will it Bite the Dust?

Why does anyone really care? They're just a cheap knock off of the Spice Girls. And male fantasy object? They could do better than that. Real men want real women, not stick figures with silicone breasts. Empowerment is in the eye of the beholder. I was in that stage, and it's so hard to break out of! Its so easy to feel insecure about your body, squeeze into a stripper outfit to feel beautiful and then wonder why nobody treats you with respect. But hey...some women like that.

MELISSA R SOULD OF WON COS ASIA CANT SING AND SHE IS A DIVA OH AND MELISSA R IS SOOOO MUCH HOTTER THAN HER BUT THEN AGAIN LOOK AT HALF THE PUSSYCATS DOLLS LOL

i think that it was a very bad choice to pick asia because she CAN NOT SING,IS ALL ABOUT HERSELF.what did they have a vocal coach for if she didnt listen to him.pERSONALLY I THINK THAT MELISSA R shold have won because she can sing and dance. Also because yes asia can dance but she CANT SING!!!!!!!!if yo u wanna hit me back tahat is fine you have my e-mail

ok, i am seriously sick and tired of all networks replacing shows that actually have a substantial plot with stupid reality shows that basically revolve around the stupidest things. I mean are these networks looking to lose more viewers? because that's what's gonna happen if they continue to replace shows that people actually watch with stupid shows like "the next pussycat doll" who the hell cares who the next pussycat doll will be? honestly i think people who watch this show have no life

that sucks all the rest of the pussycat dolls suck

yo,
K um the person that is leaving is nicole and shes goin solo becuase she is to good she thinks and i agree with this. I love the pussycat dolls!

Dawn Ostroff should be fired, she might be able to get a job with "Hustler" as a stripper editor, but a entertainment director, She a'int. All this Top Model and Pussy cat girl stuff should be on very, very late night cabel TV that has to have a special subscription to watch. She's hurting the CW's image with the bad strippers posing as models or preformers. especially programming these shows during prime time for young impressionable children to be able to watch. If you really need to watch this sought of garbage, put it on at 3:00 A.M. when our children are asleep.

WHO CARES? NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD GO FIFTY FEET TO SEE ANY OF THE TALENTLESS WH%%&ES. THEY ALL OUGHT TO BE BOOED OF THE STAGE, INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL ONES THAT ARE BEING ADDED TO. THEIR NOT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH FOR "PLAYBOY", THEY MIGHT MAKE IT AS SECOND RATE $2.00 PER HOUR STREET GIRLS, IF THEY HAD MADE CHANGE.

sissley should of stayed and jaime should of stayed i want asia, chelseyand mellisa s to win and brittany should of stayed to so ya this is alexia talking and i love the pussycat dolls so like buy now p.s i would like the pussy cat dolls msn my msn is alexia_campeau@hotmail.com plzz email me love ya xoxoxxox

They are trained dancers and probably TRAIN every day so ofcourse theyre gonna be slim and toned..its not giving out an unhealthy body image because they are fit and healthy...im sure anyone who trained that much would be that slim and its not as if they are bag and bones. Im sick of hearing that its not as if they are skeleton catwalk size 0 models !!

I wonder which PCD left :(:(!

I have completely lost respect for the CW. The Pussycat Dolls are not about girl empowerment; they are about dancing inappropriately in barely any clothing. This show completely degrades women and gives them an unhealthy body image.

What pussycat doll left that they are trying to audition girls?

Who needs another bad reality show about "girl power"? Give us back Veronica Mars please!!

Stephanie -- I've got no problem with the Pussycat Dolls being cute and having fun. I just hate that they try to sell it as empowerment for girls.

What's empowering about dressing up like a stripper and parading around for male approval? What's empowering about being a stick figure with huge boobs? What's empowering about fitting into the rigid definition of female beauty or hotness, and then singing about how the only thing yo uthink about is sex? Where's the empowerment of basically shaping yourself into a male fantasy object?

They're fine as fluffy entertainment -- not my idea of a good time, but you might like them. When they're sold as role models or empowering figures, that's just wrong. There's nothing empowering about them.

The Pussycat Dolls are empowering!! They are like the American version of The Spice Girls, Just a hell of a lot more attractive. I give them major props for just having fun and not caring what people think. so will everyone please stop being close minded and just have some fun!

First sign of being a has-been rock group, having a reality show. Looks like the skankeriffic PCD are on the short slippery slope to the remainder bin.

Show concept is overdone, and insults the dignity and intelligence of everyone in it and watching it. Judging by modern society, that means it'll probably be popular as hell. Even more so if they move it to fridays with the WWF as a lead-in and STOP MESSING UP VERONICA MARS!!!

My inner Pussycat Doll is Hobbes from "Calvin and Hobbes". (Tigers are pussycats, right? :P ) Either that or a Garfield Plushie. Neither of which anyone wants to see gyrating lewdly on a stage.

Amen, Jerslix! I'm not against the show, persay, but I'm against how it's marketed. Let's just call a spade a spade and not call stripper dancing empowerment. Today's teens are smarter than that.

I don't really care about the Pussycat dolls. I think that Nicole is very talented, but don't really have an opinion about the back up dancers.

i am pretty frakkin' pissed that VM is going on hiatus AGAIN.

OK, you know what? This whole "empowerment" thing is starting to drive me nuts. If a woman wants to dress like a stripper and gyrate on stage, fine, that's her right, and she should feel safe doing it. But don't try to tell me that it's a "Whoo-hoo girl power! You've come a long way, baby!" sort of thing. Dawn Ostroff being in the position of power she's in -- that's empowering. Her choosing to sell the idea that "power" for women = scanty clothing and lip-synched gyrating? That's just depressing.
