Veronica Mars: Kristen Dishes, Chris Lowell Talks
Kristen Bell talks to TVGuide about her new movie, (Fifty Pills, out on DVD), her over-the-hiatus projects, and what sort of one-shot mysteries we can expect from the end of Season 3. This bit got us especially interested:
“A lot of us are involved in this charity called Invisible Children, which Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas), his best friend and brother-in-law started,” Bell told TVGuide. “They went to Uganda and made a phenomenal documentary about a little civil war going on because of this group called the LRA, the Lord's Resistant Army, that abducts children and basically brainwashes them to become fighters — and I'm talking kids 5 to 15 years old. [Mars creator] Rob [Thomas] knew how important it is to a lot of us, so there's a whole episode about a displaced child at the college, and that's kind of cool because it's important to so many of us and we can share it with our viewers. We're going to be able to do a PSA at the end, telling people that this isn't just something we made up, please visit InvisibleChildren.com and see how you can help, because it's very, very important to a lot of us.”
Sounds like it could be a great episode, and we’re all for anything that raises the profile of this devastating issue.
But, on a completely shallow note, did anyone else have a moment of mental whiplash trying to reconcile “Dick Casablancas” and “started a charity”? We know, we know, the actor isn’t the same as the character, but Ryan Hansen does such a great job of playing Dick as a shallow, possibly evil, partyboy schmuck that it’s kind of making our heads hurt.
Plus, for all you Piz fans out there, check out this great PopGurls interview with actor Chris Lowell. For example, take a look at this quote about the producers preparing him for his role as a potential love interest for Veronica:
“I got pulled into a trailer before we started shooting, I think it was the second or third episode, and Rob Thomas and Dan Etheridge set me down and were like, 'You know, Chris, we really like you and you're a great guy but we need you to know that you're probably going to face a little heat from the fan base, so just don't get offended when they…' And I was like, 'When they what? When they what?" And they were like, 'when they hate you with the fire of a thousand suns.' And it's true! People get crazy about Logan and Veronica. And I can't blame them! I'm a big fan of Logan and Veronica. I mean, if there's anybody I would rather hook up with on this show, assuming that it happens, other than Veronica, it would be Jason Dohring, of course.”
And here’s Lowell’s take on what he expected to happen to his character: “I thought I was going to be the rapist for the longest time, I was hoping. I would beg and plead -- you don't understand -- I was dying to be the rapist, but they said no. Then I wanted to have my hair cut, but they said no to that too, and then I asked if I could get raped and have my head shaved, but that didn't go down at all. And right now we're on episode 18, and I'm not dead yet, I haven't killed anybody.”
Poor guy.

I love the show Veronica Mars justl ike many of my friends in VA. I didnt know until just now it was cancelled. I read that there was campaigns against not canceling the show, to get more viewers or something. I dont think the show should be cancelled. I am sure there are a ton of people that didnt even know and still dont know its cancelled

Pleeeeeeease DONT cancel Veronca Mars. I always wait until 9 on tuesdays to watch Veronica Mars and if its cancel i'd be devestated. I always get excited when watching it, because who knows what exciting twists might happen. i support LoVe. :]]

O.K I really need new episodes of VM to come on...you see I have grown this unhealthy obsession with Jason Dohring (As you can tell by my name) and I NEED to see more of him~! and by the way...i really like Logan and Veronica together, so how about we stop the breaking up between them and just put them together for good..well on the show I mean...I want Jason in real life...anyway I could meet him face to face?? I promise I'm not psychotic..I just have a crush on a very good looking boy with great eyes and lips...one boy that can never let me down...unless of course you take VM off the air...then I will be devastated of course! -Much Love <3 Danyelle

I love the show - and the music from the show. I bought the Veronica Mars CD - but some songs from the second and the third season is not on the CD. Any idea on how I get find the songs or the artists from the last two seasons?
PS - I can't wait until May to see the next show....

I really hope Piz shows some deep down hidden brains that help Veronica with her Sleuthing. Personally, I'd like to see him slowly develop detective skills (with his being around Veronica so much) that are more a kin to them being sort of an un-orthodox, but effective style. A kind of Veronica Mars' answer to "Columbo" meets Hardy Boy. Piz could sort of be a reluctant semi-detective that doesn't really want to be a detective.....all he wants is to be a radio disc jockey......but wouldn't you know it..... just when Piz thought he was out..... our little Miss Mars would keep dragging him back in. A storyline like this has the potential for some great stuff.
Actually, Piz has got so much more to offer as a character...but....eh, who knows where they are going with it, hopefully the writters do good.
