One Tree Hill: "Messin' With The Kid"

One Tree Hill lightened up this week after some dark storylines, and we're all for some happier moments. We loved this episode and the new plot developments -- did you? It was fun to see Haley singing for the pure enjoyment of it, Jamie and Nathan challenging a bully in an unexpected way, and Lucas and Peyton adjusting to each other by splitting the house in two. Plus, we got some good Brooke/Sam bonding moments, Owen seems to be back for good, and Mouth's juggling a new job and the attention of two women (!).

Let's backtrack. Lucas and Peyton are getting used to living together -- it's not always easy. Peyton's worried that they don't know each other as well as they should. Then they're bickering about everything from her music taste to which bedroom to sleep in. Peyton wonders why they can't sleep in the master bedroom, but Lucas is squicked out -- that was Karen's room! She insists they give it a go, and then she laughs at Lucas when he has a little problem in the bedroom. Poor guy -- we have to say we felt bad for him in that scene. Their spat goes to extremes when they tape the house in half and Peyton tries to tempt Lucas into breaking their rules by being sexy. He still won't give in! They finally call a truce, and just in time; Lucas needs the bathroom and Peyton needs some food. Cute scenes all around -- we liked seeing their relationship this way.

While walking by the water, Haley encounters a young guitarist who knows her music and starts playing "When The Stars Go Blue." She asks Haley when her new music will come out, and Haley's a little flustered -- she's had so much going on, she hasn't really had the chance to think about music. But after some soul-searching with Brooke and then Nathan, Hales realizes that she does have room for music in her life again. She doesn't care about being in the studio or going on tour, though -- she just wants to enjoy music for its own sake. So she picks up a guitar and joins the girl by the water for a pretty amazing duet.

Meanwhile, Brooke's juggling bad-girl Sam and Owen, and she's stressed. Sam's out hitting the bars while Brooke's up worrying, and when Owen brings her home, Brooke's in no mood to deal with her ex. By the end of the episode, though, Owen may have gotten through a little -- he apologizes for disappearing when Brooke wanted to adopt, and his reasons are pretty understandable: after a rotten childhood, he's afraid he'd be a terrible dad. Brooke sees something quite different in him... seems like Owen might get another chance.

In perhaps the least believable storyline, Mouth's back in town after a stint in Omaha and hoping to get his old job back. Okay, that part we believe... but then things get a little incredible. It turns out he doesn't even have to try -- they give him an even better gig, complete with more cash and a hot new intern... who turns out to be Gigi. What are the chances? Mouth's a little uncomfortable, especially when she seems to be hitting on him a bit.

Even the elementary school isn't safe from drama! Jamie's getting picked on at the playground because of the cape he wears in Quentin's honor. He turns to Dan for help (probably not the best choice), and then to Nathan and Haley. Nathan's ready to teach Jamie how to fight, but Hales reminds them that the best thing to do is just walk away. Nathan agrees -- if Jamie can do that, he's tougher than Nathan ever was.

Nathan asks Brooke for a favor. She's got so much on her plate, she's about to say no... until he tells her it's for Jamie. That changes everything! Later, at the playground, Jamie's nemesis shows up to mock him once again about the cape. But this time, Jamie has a major ally on his side: Dad! Nathan's there wearing a cape of his own, and he shows just how cool the cape can be with a few trademark slam dunks. Suddenly everyone wants a cape, and thanks to Brooke's handiwork, they can all have one. But in a truly awesome Jamie scene at the end, Jamie tells the newly-converted-to-capedom bully that he doesn't wear one anymore. After all, some kids lead and some kids follow. Take that, bratty kid!

Brooke confronts Sam at the diner -- why didn't she come home? But Sam's tough exterior cracks for a minute when she confesses that the waitress behind the counter is her mom, and sometimes she thinks about telling her just what she gave up -- not much. Then Sam tells Brooke she's used to people giving up on her. Brooke realizes she needs to try a new technique...

...so she waits for Sam in the car where Sam chooses to sleep, and she presents the girl with a deal. She'll take her in as a foster parent, no catch. "No catch?" Sam doesn't quite believe it. No catch, but there will be rules, Brooke tells her. Sam agrees to it, and she even agrees to stop taking stuff from Brooke. Will she stick to it? Next week's previews make us think she won't.

loved this episode! is all that i can say!

I agree about the Brooke/Lucas scenes. In my mind it makes absolutely no sense for them to NOT have scenes together. They are close friends yet they have not talked at all since Lucas got back from Las Vegas. I don't know what the hell Mark is thinking.... of course we will get a Brucas scene but watch it be them talking about Peyton or Leyton *eyeroll*

It's weird that Brooke/Nathan has had two scenes this season while Brucas had none. It could be because of real life if the rumors are true but that would just really suck.

Chad/Sophia got the chemistry down no matter what they went through in real life, so give them some scenes!

OMG. B/L FANS ARE TOTALLY BEING IGNORED.
But I'll settle for some B/N scenes if I can't get B/L. I don't think there's anything romantic between Brooke & Nathan but I love their scenes and totally ship Sophia/James.
I am sick of Sam. Sure, Brooke wants to be a mum. Be a great Aunt to JAMIE first. Don't "foster" a teenager who is totally ungrateful and doesn't care about what you are trying to do to help her. She was like 'poor me...' the whole time. Who wouldn't tell their mum that they're her kid! That is so messed up!

I love everything N/H/J this week. It was so cute! & the capes were awesome.

L/P were even bareable this week. The part where Peyton was trying to be 'sexy' was just disturbing. But I liked everything else.

I want more Haley songs. :)

This episode is my second or first favourite this season.

Great Leyton scenes this week --- FINALLY!!! It was about time they get to share some time together. And the scenes were really good, loved all of them. You could really feel the great chemistry between them.
And besides Leyton, still was a great episode. Loved all about the Scott family and also loved the Brooke story line and I even get used to Sam.
Just one little problem left: Mouth! Now this geek is thorn by two women? LOL Come on ... send him back to Omaha and this time ... PLEASE ... FOREVER!!!

I don't remember laughing this much at an epi of OTH in a looooong time!

I loved the LP scenes; it was great to see them dealing with minor quirks but having fun with it. Esp. loved the Karen bdrm stuff; Peyt dancing around with the remote; Fergalicious/text (lol); and the end when they go back to the same side. How cute is Hil/Peyt's laugh!

Naley was cute too (usually not a huge fan, but loved them last night) esp. with how Haley went all "bad ass" and Nate teased her! I liked how realistic this situ w/Jamie was...they were a family acting like a family.

I like Owen and thought his scenes with Brooke were great. Not fond of Sam, but she can be good for Brooke in the long run...

I do miss the friendship scenes between the girls and/or all 5 main core. HOWEVER, the show is getting back to focus on the main 5 instead of soooo much on secondary characters...I hope this trend continues!!

All in all, a great light episode!

This episode was good, but really needs to happen is Haley andNathan have another baby this time a girl.It will make this season and season 7 really good.

Oh, forgot to say that BL scenes are not the only scenes missing. There's
No Haley/Peyton
No Lucas/Haley
No Nathan/Peyton (do they even know each other), And not many Lucas/Nathan, even Jamie/Lucas I don't even think he's his uncle anymore. Even Skills/Peyton (what happen to that) lol!

Like I said they use Characters for Storylines Purpose. So I wouldn't think too much of it. That's how OTH rolls. LOL!

I was listening to you guys podcast, and had to say. The Episode was nice best one of season. See the ratings. lol!

Anyways, about the whole BN scenes They are just there to include Brooke into the Core. Plus it does have to do with Sophia/James lol! They have something. It's obvious being anything. Haley can also make Capes, so him going to Brooke was WTF! Yeah, see. They are including BN just to have them really.

Whole Peyton dream so the fact that Peyton wants to get it on with Brooke. She's wants a threesome.

I think the thing you guys are forgetting is that Season 5 Mark need away to include Brooke into the Cliffhanger and without BL interracting it wasn't possible. Also Joe leaving on to do a Movie messed everything Up, He even said it himself. If he didn't have to go on the Movie filming Owen would have been around, hence NO BROOKE IN CLIFFHANGER. So Mark and them needed to do something with Brooke. Plus LP weren't interracting they were off and being awkward since 508, Peyton said she was going to let go of Lucas. So Lucas need someone to be around and Brooke was on her own. So they needed a BL intraction or else the Cliffhanger wouldn't work for him. Even though it still was Stupid and made no sense. But that was the whole reason why BL seemed BFF. Because 1st half of S5 there wasn't that many intractions?? Do See the the pattern.

So this season there being NO BL scenes Yet, is no surprise to me, because Mark only uses Characters to move around storylines and connect them. That's all OTH does and been doing since S3. If you guys watch all of the series you'll see the common theme.

So it doesn't really bother me there being no BL scenes because at this Point I really lost interest in them. If we get friendship fine, great, but not really bothered by it.

I also get the feel the show, Characters are really over the whole BLP thing. I know the Actors seem they don't want it.

loved this ep!

the girls name is grace potter who did the duet

you didn't mention gergalicious and junk in the ep!

and also not only no brucas scenes - but there hasn't been any laley either!

they were deperate for mouth before he left, i cant imagine why that doesn't still stand true - not so unbeleivable

gr8 podcast - till nxt time! xox

i really liked this episode! the leyton scnes were hilarious. my favorite line with them was "i'm calling lindsey" "fine, if you think that will help" amazing! And the Naley scenes were so cute and jamie. i like that haley is getting back into singing.

I'll admit that Lucas and
Peyton got really cute libnes and scenes but... it wasn't them, at all. They werre both so out of character and it felt kinda awkward for them to be all cutsey and fluffly and it was kinda annoying. It seemed like the wirters were tyring to hard to get us to like Leyton. I'm actually a Leyton fan, but they bothered me this week. They weren't themselves.

The best episode so far! it was funny and upbeat. I absolutely adored the Lucas and Peyton scenes; it's rare to see them that way. I loved Nathan and Haley too, them switching roles where he's the good boy and she's the bad girl lol I am actually pleasantly surprised with the return of Owen. I'm not sure yet if he's going to be good for Brooke, i guess we'll just have to wait and see!

I gotta say Lucas and Peyton had me in this week. They were hilarious and Chad and Hilarie do have amazing Chemistry they were bouncing off each other and comfortable doing all those scenes. It was adorable to see. Hilarie is also a Foxx she is HOTT! and Beautiful. Loved her legs, (I guy gotta love that)lol! My favorites scene was Peyton had the remote dancing around that was adorable and also my fav lines were

"and if it could squint it would be you!"

"I've never seen anyone yell @ it before."

Peyton got Jokes. LOL!

The whole Episode was nice this week back to OTH style like back in the day. Back to it's usual self.

I have to start out with Lucas and Peyton. How much fun was that?? Laughing in bed? Arguing about music? Discussing magazine articles?Fergalicous. Need I say more?May I say Nathan playing slamball is hot. Period. My favorite scene of the night was when Haley tried to discuss the bullying with Chuck’s mother. She thinks that the boys should work it out on their own and that maybe if they took away Jamie’s silly cape he wouldn’t get picked on. This sets Haley over the edge who then starts beating on her. At home Nathan asks, “What happened to walking away?” so funny
