One Tree Hill: Digging up the Past
Both Peyton and Lucas had to relive some troubling episodes from their past this week, but for very different reasons. Julian's behind all of it, though. Meanwhile, Brooke and Nathan made some big decisions, Dan resurfaced, Sam caused trouble (but nothing like last week), and we wished Haley had more of a storyline!
What's up with Peyton: She hasn't told Lucas that she and Julian have a history. Just how much history do they have? Well, we're about to find out. They met in LA right after she turned down Lucas's original proposal, and they were in love and living together at one point. However, the relationship went south when Julian felt like he was competing with Lucas's book, and he left her for it.
What's up with Nathan: He's prepping for his semifinal Slamball game -- it's against a tough rival, Jerome, who claims he's going to put Nathan back into a wheelchair.
What's up with Lucas: Julian wants him to write the scene where Dan kills Keith, but he really doesn't want to. He's trying to figure out if Dan ever had a soul. So first he goes to Nathan to reminisce, and Nathan tells him that yes, Dan once had a soul -- but he definitely doesn't have one now.
What's up with Brooke: Owen is trying to romance her with daily gifts (which she accepts) and naked surprises in her backseat (which oddly, she rejects). We get why she might have been a little annoyed, but to make the poor guy figure out his own way home -- sans clothes? Seems a little harsh to us. Meanwhile, Brooke's thinking up appropriate punishments for Sam and brainstorming new ways to work with Peyton's damaged wedding dress.
What's up with Haley: She doesn't have much of a storyline this week, sadly. She's busy supporting Nathan, checking in with Jamie, and talking to Lucas about his upsetting memories of Dan.
What's up with Sam: She inexplicably is trusted with Jamie again for some brief babysitting, and she teaches him the wonders of making a profit on vending machine snacks. Jamie likes this idea, and he takes it to the playground to make some cash of his own.
How it all wraps up: Peyton confronts Julian and asks if he was trying to get her back, but he turns it on her: "I left you, Peyton." He doesn't really care if she tells Lucas about their history or not; he claims he kept quiet about it out of respect for her engagement. And furthermore, his date is going to be there any minute. Peyton's flustered and goes to leave, but before she can, Julian implies that he'd be curious about getting back together, if that's what she was thinking.
Lucas talks to Peyton and Haley about Dan's murder of Keith, but no one really has the answers he's looking for. He becomes increasingly upset, even telling Haley that Dan shouldn't be a part of Jamie's life at all. Finally, Lucas goes to the cemetery and takes a shovel to Dan's enormous gravestone.
Later, Dan finds Lucas and answers Lucas's questions about that fateful day. He tells Lucas to write Keith as a hero, since that's what he was. But why? Lucas wants to know. Dan tells him that every good story needs a villain, "and I'm yours." With that, he walks off into the night.
Nathan's big Slamball game arrives. Owen's protecting him for awhile, but he gets injured and has to be pulled out of the game. So Nathan's in it for himself. He makes a fantastic shot and wins the game...
...but his rival Jerome can't handle it, and he shoves Nathan through a wall of glass. Nathan's okay, but his family and friends are sufficiently freaked out. Jamie tells him not to play Slamball anymore.
At home, Julian looks at a picture of himself and Peyton...
...Owen gets into his car after the game and Brooke's waiting. She basically gives him the "you're-a-great-guy" speech but rejects him because she wants to be a role model for Sam. We think this is the most infuriating moment of the episode, hands-down. Why does Sam always come first? Especially after her behavior last week, we don't think Sam deserves it.
Lucas shows up at Julian's hotel room with the new manuscript. Julian takes a call and Lucas wanders around the room... and comes across the pic of Peyton and Julian!
Meanwhile, Mouth and Gigi are pulling a late night at the station, and she wants it to be an all-nighter. Hey, they've got food, beer, and each other. She bascially tells him that it can be a one-night deal, and no one ever has to know. Mouth hesitates.
Nathan decides to quit Slamball once and for all -- it's just not worth risking his health and family. Phew!
Peyton tells Lucas that she has to tell him something... but he has the picture and shows her before she can say a word. She tells him that she and Julian were in love... and credits.
What did you think? Were you happy with Nathan's decision to quit Slamball and Brooke's decision to put Sam before dating? What about the Peyton/Julian history? Did you like this episode? Tell us what you think in the comments!

It's definitely a relief that Nathan won't be playing slamball anymore.
It was definitely a shock that Peyton and Julian had been living together (plus the "I love you's") .. and never during all the time since then had she said anything to Lucas about it. (It would have been one thing to not mention a one-night stand, few dates, something more 'brief' .. but that much of a relationship?!)
By the way, I think Brooke was wrong to say no to Owen for Sam's sake. And it is NOT that I don't think Sam is worth the time and effort. I actually think Sam could benefit from seeing Brooke role model a healthy/meaningful relationship. Of course, I would say that it would be best to go slowly etc.

Um... Leytoner's don't kill me, because I'm a Leyton fan too, but, um, I thought Jullian and Peyton were really cute.
Like, I know she carried around the book, which makes me happy, because I love Leyton, but I still thought they were adorable. But, hey, I also liked Lindsey. Talking about guest stars, thanks GOD Owen is gone. He and Brooke were totally wrong for each other.
anywho, I'd be happy if Jullian and Peyton got together, but I'd way prefer Leyton.

LOL. Poor Haley doesn't have a storyline.
Joy's too great of an actress to stand for this shit. She needs off this show immediately.

All I have to say is that I still think Peyton and Lucas will be fine.Jullian is just pissed off because he knows he let the best thing ever happen to him get away over something so stupid!! But anyway Question to all, What is going on with Deb and Skills, we haven't heard anything from them since they walked off from Dan a couple of eppis ago???

"She was in love with Jake once upon a time, and she was in love with Julian once upon a time!"
That's right. And Lucas was in love with Peyton, then Brooke, then Peyton again, then Lindsay, then Peyton...Did I left out something? LOL, kidding. Don't throw rocks at me or something.
Loved Owen pulling a Brooke. It was awesome. If she really doesn't want me, he can sit on my backseat naked anytime.
=)

I just have to say... was she really in love with Julian? She carried the book around with her everwhere she went! She was still buying every copy she saw and that was the reason that her and Julian broke up! I mean, if she was truly in love with Julian, wouldn't she have stopped that and put Lucas behind her? Obviously she thought she was in love with Julian but she never really let go of Lucas. She was still holding on to what might have been with Lucas instead of looking at what was with Julian. It's the same thing that happened with Jake! When she was visiting him and Jenny, she was asleep and she said "I love you Lucas" NOT I love you Jake or even I love you (which she could have explained away that it was Jake she was dreaming of not Lucas). She has always and will always be in love Lucas.
Ok... rant over (for now) ;)

wow. we were led to believe that peyton spent all her life pining over lucas and being broody when she was actually with (and falling in love with) julian. so she loved lucas, jake (best ever IMO) AND julian? wow.
haley needs her own storyline. mark uses her too much to prop other people's storylines and its not fair to bethany joy's amazing acting ability. she had better have a good storyline next week or i will be very mad.
wow. sam is turning jamie into a drug dealer. epic fail. *rolls eyes*
but i FINALLY warmed up to brooke/owen and now it looks like it won't happen? wtf????
best part of the show. naked!owen in brooke's backseat followed by her kicking him out of the car.

Best part of the episode: Brooke rejecting Owen, followed closely by Brooke kicking him out of the car, followed closely by Peyton telling Lucas she was in love with Julian!
Surprise! Peyton didn't spend all her life pining over Lucas like everyone is brainwashed into believing. She was in love with Jake once upon a time, and she was in love with Julian once upon a time!
