Podcasts Are Coming, We Swear!

We know, we know, we've been neglecting you. We said there'd be podcasts, and thus far we haven't delivered. It's been a matter of scheduling -- now that we don't all work in the same office, we're having trouble getting together to watch the eps and then dish about them. We're working on it, and hope to have OTH podcasts for you soon -- like, within the next couple of weeks soon. Supernatural podcasts... well, we're doing our best, but it might be with a different or rotating cast of 'casters. Which raises a question:

Vote, comment and let us know what you think. We'll let you know as soon as we've got podcasts to post, and thanks for your patience!

One Tree Hill: Bring on the Bad Girls!

We've got more casting news for One Tree Hill! First up, the news We've all been waiting for -- Rachel Gatina is coming back to Tree Hill! According to Michael Ausiello, Danneel Harris has signed on for at least seven eps next season, starting with episode two.

We are, of course, thrilled. We love Rachel's potential as a troublemaker, and we love it even more when we get to see her vulnerable side. Which Rachel will we be seeing next season? Will she still be dealing with drug addiction and the fallout from disappearing with Brooke's money after evil Victoria scared her off? Or will she be returning to her friends to start a new life? We can't wait to find out!

More OTH news after the jump!

The other bit of casting news concerns Alexis, the wild-child party girl/actress/model who is the new face of Clothes over Bros. According to E!Online's Watch With Kristin team, we can expect Brooke and Julian to remain blissfully happy -- for a while, at least, This is One Tree Hill, after all, and this is a show that loooooooves its relationship drama --and that's why we love it! We're hoping the attractive twosome stays together for a while, but we're sure that complications will ensue.

So that's the good news. The bad news? The WWK team says it's unlikely that we'll see Lucas and Peyton this season at all, until maybe the finale. Curses.

So what's your take on all the OTH news? Are you happy that Rachel will be back? What do you think of the casting for Alexis? And we KNOW you're going to have something ot say about Brulian and the missing Leyton. Talk!

Supernatural Casting News: Demons Galore!

We're getting more and more excited for the return of Supernatural (71 days and counting...) as we learn more about who we'll be seeing in the new season. One bit of news pertains to a character we knew we'd be seeing. The other is about a character we weren't expecting to see again -- and who will be returning in a different form.

We all know we're going to be meeting the ultimate Big Bad this season when Lucifer makes his appearance. Now we know what appears Lucifer is going to have. According to Michael Ausiello, he'll be played by Mark Pellegrino, late of Lost, Dexter and The Unit. That's him to the right. What do you think -- does he look like your idea of the Prince of Darkness? We think he'll do nicely... although we are slightly disappointed that Kripke didn't take our casting suggestion.

The other demon on our collective radar? Well, to protect that spoilerphobes, we'll talk about that after the jump.

The good news: Meg will be back! The demon who plagued the Winchester boys for several seasons is coming back, and we're guessing she is NOT a happy bunny. We can't wait to see them interact again!

But there's a catch. Nicki Aycox has another gig -- she's appearing in TNT's Dark Blue -- so the Meg we see won't be the Meg we remember. She'll have another meat suit, which will be provided by actress Rachel Miner. So far, she's only in for one episode, but who knows.

We're torn on this -- we adore Meg, but that's at least in part because Nicki made her so deliciously, awesomely evil. Will Meg's words be the same coming out of another actress' mouth? Will Rachel be able to pull it of? And how do you feel about another actress taking the role? We know you have an opinion -- talk!

New Golden Boy for 90210

By now, we all know that Dustin Milligan's Ethan won't be returning to that storied zip code next season -- and yes, we're depressed about it. We love Dustin, even if Ethan never really got our motors racing. So how can they possibly replace him as the resident golden boy?

According to Michael Ausiello, the producers hope to distract us from the lack of Ethan by dangling an Abercromibe & Fitch model/soap star in front of our faces. And while our hearts will always remain faithful to Dustin, our hormones are too busy yelling "Yowza!" to care. (Sorry, Ethan -- we're really, really shallow that way...)

Ausiello says Donovan will join the cast as Teddy, "West Beverly’s own version of JFK Jr." He will be a "heavily recurring" character, and we should see him show up sometime early in the season.

So what do you think? Will an exceedingly pretty blond boy be enough to make you forget Ethan? Do you think Trevor can pass for a high-school stud -- and do you care? What do you hope for from the character? Talk about it in the comments!

Privileged's Joanna Garcia Jumps to Gossip Girl!

We were heartbroken when it became clear that Privileged wasn't coming back for a new season -- how were we going to get our Megan/Will fix? And what are we going to do without snarky Sage and sweet Rose?

Well, we can't do anything about three of those folks, but we can tell you that Joanna Garcia, who played Megan, has a four-episode arc on Gossip Girl starting with the seaon premiere! According to The Hollywood Reporter, she'll play Bree Buckley, "an evil Miss America-type blonde." Aww... we love Joanna with red hair! But we'll get over the hair-color choice, because we're just thrilled to think of Joanna dueling with the Upper East Siders. She's always played such sweet characters, so we're looking forward to seeing her sharpen her claws!

More details: Bree will apparently by the product of a conservative Southern family, but she'll turn her back on their politics. What's more, the belle will apparently be setting her sights on one Mr. Archibald -- according to Michael Ausiello, we can expect her to have a fling with Nate!

What's your take on this bit of news? Will you Privileged fans tune in to watch Joanna on Gossip Girl? Will you Gossip Girl fans take well to Nate getting yet another love interest? Talk about it in the comments!

America's Next Top Model: Tyra on the Strongest Season Yet

Tyra Banks so so excited about the upcoming season of America's Next Top Model -- and she told us why! We caught up with the model/media mogul to find out about the challenges of having shorter girls on the show (it's not what you think!), what guest judges we can expect, and why she's thrilled that her daytime show is now on The CW too!

Does this get you excited for the new season? Talk about it in the comments!

Smallville: Meet the Big Bads

Smallville has cast another Big Bad for next season -- General Zod! British actor Callum Blue, best known for Dead Like Me and The Tudors, will be taking the general's role. This follows on the heels of the news that Brian Austin Green, late of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (and before that, the original Beverly Hills 90210) will be showing up as Metallo, a cyborg supervillian (and ace reporter!) powered by kryptonite. Clark is going to be busy!

Callum is stepping into some big shoes -- actor Terrance Stamp (who Smallville fans know as the voice of Jor-El) played Zod in 1980's Superman Ii; more recently, Smallville's own Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) played host to Zod's malevolent life force.

What's your take on the casting -- and on these villians showing up on Smallville? Are they big and bad enough to follow up on Doomsday, or does the show need more?

Gossip Girl: Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless Rock Out in Houston!

We knew Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen was in a band -- come on, with rocker hair and rebellious eyeliner like that, she's legally obligated to make music! But we didn't realize how good her band was!

Our friends down at KIAH in Houston caught up with Taylor as her band, The Pretty Reckless, played some club dates. Taylor talks about acting vs. music, how the band got together, and why fans should buy vinyl, among other things. Check it out:

Plus, we've got a clip of The Pretty Reckless actually performing. Taylor talks about the shock she gets when GG fans see her perform. Is this what you expected?

What do you think of Taylor's musical talents? Talk about it in the comments!

A Surprising Supernatural Return!

OK, folks, EW's Michael Ausiello has an awesome bit of scoop on Supernatural that has us all aflutter. It seems that one of the dearly departed will be coming back to our screens next season for at least one episode. Who is it? In deference to spoilerphobes, we'll talk about it after the jump!

Jess is coming back! Ausiello tells us Adrianne Palicki is signed up to return for one ep early in the season. Why is she back, and what will she be doing? No clue, but we can't wait to find out.

When last we saw Jess, she was standing on a street corner gazing at Sam. Was she a vision? A hallucination? A harbinger of doom? We don't know, and the issue was dropped for many a season. But now she's coming back, so it looks like we'll be getting some answers. Wheee! Thanks for the follow-through, Kripke!

What's your take on Jess' return? What are your theories about why she's back? Talk about it in the comments!

America's Next Top Model: Guest Judges Galore!

We're never surprised to see big name celebs pop up on America's Next Top Model from time-to-time. But even we were shocked to read that reality TV fixture Kim Kardashian will be appearing as a guest judge during upcoming Cycle 13, which has already begun shooting!

Kim recently blogged about her time shooting with the folks at ANTM. She's a big fan of Tyra's (who isn't?) and long-time fan of the show, so we're willing to believe her when she says that Cycle 13 is definitely the best so far. Truth be told, we were a little nervous when we found out about Paulina's departure, but it looks like the producers really know what they're doing.

Kardashian, who as been linked to NFL running back Reggie Bush and "Entourage" hottness Adrian Grenier, can be seen acting like herself on her reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

What do you think about Kim joining the show as a guest judge? Tell us in the comments!

Gossip Girl: Scandalous Show, Scandalous Real Life

Oh, dear. We could almost hear the Kristen Bell voiceover when the news broke that someone was shopping around a tape featuring Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester in the altogether, frolicking with her then-boyfriend. Yep, someone's got a sex tape, and it looks like soon all the world will be able to see it.

This brings up several questions for us:

  1. Oh, Leighton. We love you, girl, and support your right to have whatever kind of fun with whichever friend you may wish. But why, why would you have that fun on camera? Call us prudish, but we can't quite figure out why anyone who ever even contemplates a career in public life would set foot in the same room with a video camera -- much less strip down for one. You've got to know the danger is high that someday, some "friend" might try to make a few bucks on it.
  2. And what sort of "friend" does something like this, anyway? Look, what consenting adults do for fun in the privacy of their own home/apartment/hotel room/vacation villa/whatever is no one's business but theirs. Making money off someone's private sexy fun time is pretty low.
  3. Are there really sex tapes anymore? With digital video cameras, aren't they more like sex cards, or sex thumb drives?
  4. What are the odds that a similar scenario will make it into the script on Gossip Girl next season? And which character(s) do you think would star in that particular opus? Chuck's a natural choice, of course, but would there really be any scandal there? Half of New York -- and a good portion of the international jet set -- has seen Chuck's naughty bits!

What's your take on the whole situation? Are you shocked, shocked! that such a thing would emerge, or is it just another day, another naked video? Talk about it in the comments!

One Tree Hill: Haley's Sis Signs On, But Is She Older or Younger?

Shantel VanSanten
The folks in the casting office at One Tree Hill headquarters are on a serious roll. First they hired that hunka burnin' love, Robert Buckley, to play Nathan's agent, and now we're hearing that they have gone and found Haley's sister, Quinn. The lucky actress to join the Tree Hill gang is Shantel VanSanten. She's perdy and she's bubbly and we're not entirely sold on the whole depressed storyline that supposedly brings her to Tree Hill, but hey -- she's an actress, right?

You may recognize Shantel from her stint on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search, and if you want to get to know her more before season seven kicks off you, can check her out in the upcoming flick The Final Destination, arriving in theaters at the end of August.

No one gets hired in Hollywood (er…Wilmington) without some controversy. There seems to be some brouhaha about whether Quinn will now join the show as Haley's OLDER or YOUNGER sister. Truth be told, the actress could look older or younger than BJG. However, die-hard OTH fans know that a big part of Haley's character (and plot development, story arc, etc.) has been the fact that she was the baby of the family. In other OTH casting news, TV Fanatic is reporting that Danneel Harris will reprise her role as Rachel next year. The actress has expressed in the past that she'd like her character to return to the show to redeem herself. We'll see if that happens! How would you like Rachel to return? Would you like to see her in typical Rachel form, or would you prefer a kinder, gentler Rachel? Tell us in the comments!

Mark Your Calendars: The CW Premiere Dates Are Here!

So many cliffhangers rounded out this past season: What is Dan and Serena's half brother up to? What -- or who -- did Annie hit? How the heck are Sam and Dean going to defeat Lucifer? But before we get to them, we get introduced to Damon, Stefan and Elena as The Vampire Diaries makes its debut. Should be a spooky and satisfying night!

The Monday-night lineup returns on Sept. 14, with one slight change: One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl are changing places. Now OTH gets the first spot, and GG rounds out the night. The Beautiful Life makes its debut on Wednesday, Sept. 16, after ANTM.

Good Week for Gossip Guys!

The guys from Gossip Girl are on fire this week! First, we get the news that Chace Crawford tops People Magazine's Hottest Bachelors list. We like the way they think! We also like Chace's idea of a perfect date: "All you need is a pool table, beer, an electric jukebox and good conversation. The day a girl beats me in a game of Beirut [a kind of beer pong] is a good sign!" Ladies, start working on your alco-athletic skills!

Even though Ed Westwick didn't make that particular cover, he's not exactly shying away from the spotlight. Check out his luscious photo shoot for GQ magazine. We're not so sure about the Cosby-esque sweater, but the rest of the photos? We believe the correct term is "Yowza!"

As for Penn? The trailer for his new movie, The Stepfather, was released today -- and it's creeeeeeeee-ppppyyyy! It also features Penn in various states of sleevelessness and shirtlessness, as well as popping out of pool soaking wet. Again: Yowza!

What do you think of the Gossip Guys' various magazine and movie appearances? Talk about it in the comments!

90210: Michael Steger on Navid Unmarried and Next Season

We're back with more 90210 goodness! We talk with Michael Steger about last seasons surprises, the wedding that wasn't, and what he wants Navid to do next year. Check it out!

The Best and Worst of Times: Smallville, Season 8

We’ve discussed the Season 8 Finale of Smallville and throughout the season, we’ve talked about each episode, but we want to know your opinions on the best and worst moments of Season 8. Were there times when you felt the tears brimming? What about the times when you were mad at the direction of the show? Any moments you found yourself yelling at the television, “Why are you doing this, Clark?” We here at The CW Source have come up with our own list of favorite and most despised moments of Season 8 to lead the discussion, but we want to encourage all of you to tell us your thoughts.

The Best
Beginning with the positive things we liked about Season 8 seems the best way to open this discussion and we’ll start from the beginning.

  • At the end of “Odyssey”, Clark’s realization that he needs to leave the farm and embrace his destiny was a very nice touch of maturation for our hero. Though it leads us further from “Smallville” and closer to “Superman”, it was greatly needed.
  • The introduction of Davis Bloome in "Plastique".
  • We really enjoyed the back story of Oliver and his training with the bow in “Toxic.” The connection with Tess was icing on the cake.
  • In “Committed,” we hear Lois say that she loves Clark, regardless of her attachment to the lie detector or not. Their relationship throughout Season 8 might be one of the best things about this season.
  • In "Identity," Chloe/Brainiac giving Sebastian Kane a stroke to maintain Clark's secret identity.
  • We believe Clark rebuilding the Fortress of Solitude might possibly be the best scene this season, but definitely the best scene in "Abyss".
  • In "Legion," just having members of the Legion arrive and defeat Brainiac was good enough to make this list.
  • Besides Clark and Lana’s bed-breaking romp, "Requiem" provided us with the final ending to this love story.
  • The deception between Jimmy and Davis in "Turbulence" about whether or not Jimmy was going crazy was excellent.
  • Call us sick, but we enjoyed the scene between Davis, Clark and Chloe in "Eternal" where Chloe kills Davis with kryptonite.
  • Barring the disappointing fight between Doomsday and Clark, the episode "Doomsday" contained some incredible scenes between Oliver and Clark.

Our take on the worst? That's after the jump.

The Worst

  • Clark begins the season without his powers and it will happen time and time again, so "Odyssey" is just the beginning of the worst.
  • We couldn't really get behind the character Maxima in "Instinct."
  • Jimmy's attempt at discovering the Red-Blue Blur as it seemed more like a filler.
  • In "Bloodline," we lose Kara for the rest of the season, if not series, and this is bad.
  • We're just going to say it, Chloe and Jimmy's wedding -- bad.
  • The entire episode of "Bulletproof" seemed like a filler, and therefore, makes the worst list.
  • Due to the fact that almost everything in the episode "Infamous" was reversed/undone at the end, it smacked of an overexposed cameo appearance by Tori Spelling and nothing more.
  • Though Lois's outfit was nice, "Stiletto" amounted to very little as far as progressing the storyline.
  • "Beast" could have been one of the best episodes, but it teased us with a fight that never panned out (much like the finale).
  • Last, but certainly not least (in fact, perhaps THE worst), the finale fight between Doomsday and Clark. Too short, too confusing and ultimately disappointing.

We're sure we've missed some of your favorite moments from Season 8, and even a few of the scenes that make your stomach turn. So, here is your chance to set us straight. What were the best and worst moments from this season (and yes, thanks Steve for your complete lists of good and bad from the finale and the season)?

America's Next Top Model: A Star is Born -- Almost!

One of our favorite contestants on America's Next Top Model Cycle 12 was Tahlia Brookins. She was gorgeous, she was sweet as could be, and she was there, giving it her all, despite the fact that she was a burn victim and had scarring over a good part of her lower body.

Because of her scarring doctors have always told Tahlia that she would never be able to conceive, but the aspiring model recently appeared on the Tyra Banks Show to give her mentor the big news -- she's going to be a mom!

Tahlia and the baby daddy broke up after she was eliminated from the show, but with the happy news come a reuniting of the couple. We're sending out a big virtual "Good Luck Shout-Out" to those crazy kids.

But Tyra did more than just wish them luck -- she gave them stuff! Tahlia scored herself a stroller, onsies and baby blankets for her tyke. We're expecting an invite to the shower any day now. Hey Tahlia -- call us if you need a babysitter!
