7th Heaven Hits The Road: A Farewell

Eric prepares to see America

7th Heaven wrapped up its 11-season series on Sunday, and the news still hasn't quite hit us. Maybe that's because the Camdens have been a part of our lives for over a decade, and we can't imagine another season of TV without Ruthie's dating woes, Lucy and Kevin's parenting challenges, and of course, Eric and Annie trying to do good at church and at home.

While other series came and went, the Camdens remained with us, growing up and navigating the tricky waters of family life, religion, and good works. It's so rare to have a show around for over a decade -- we got to see Ruthie go from an adorable curly-headed kid to a young woman. We were there for Kevin's marriage proposal to Lucy, their wedding, and Savannah's birth. We witnessed their fights and their hard times -- but most of all, we were there for the great family moments that the Camdens are known for.

There was so much hype when the show ended last year because we thought it was gone for good. And last season's finale was pretty exciting: Matt and Mary returned! Suddenly everyone was pregnant with twins!

This time around, the series finale was a bit quieter and less dramatic, but still heartwarming. It's kind of nice to think of the Camdens seeing America by RV (although with so many Glenoakers packed in there, will they actually get to relax)? Did you like this year’s finale, or would you have preferred an ending more like last year’s? What'd you think of everyone's "three things" choices? And what do you hope to see the actors do next?

Post your farewells to 7th Heaven and the cast here! Plus, if you’re going through a bit of withdrawal, check out some of the cast’s webpages:

7th Heaven: Is Ruthie Too Young to Commit?

Ruthie and T-Bone: together forever? So on this Sunday's episode of 7th Heaven, Ruthie loses the diamond in her promise ring and all kinds of chaos ensues. While we're excited to see the Camden family reaction to Ruthie's woes, we're still kind of reeling that Ruthie has a promise ring. Doesn't it seem like just yesterday that Ruthie looked like this?

Now she's contemplating tying the knot and the rest of her life by T-Bone's side. It seems to be a Camden tradition to get married pretty young. Just look at Lucy and Kevin! Even Simon went back and forth about marrying Rose while he was still in college. But Ruthie? She's even younger, and she hasn't dated that many people yet. We wonder if she should take some time to see who else is out there before she makes a major commitment to T-Bone.

What do you think -- is Ruthie ready for commitment, or should she take some time off to play the field and enjoy being single?

Rumorville: 7th Heaven Gone for Good?

7th Heaven

According to E!'s Watch With Kristin, 7th Heaven is over after this season. The cast and crew have already been notified; the only ones left to be told are us fans.

We were elated to hear it was coming back after its "series finale" last year. We are sorry to see the Camdens go again, this time probably for good. What will happen to everyone? Do you think there should be a reunion episode somewhere down the line? And which stars would you like to see again in other projects?

Take a Road Trip with Beverley Mitchell

We're loving how Beverley Mitchell's music career is everywhere lately. This week, Bev's on tour with People Magazine, and she offers up a video diary so you can tag along. We love the music -- and it's cool to meet her fiancé and her guitarist, too!

Want more Beverley? She offers up some fun 7th Heaven facts (who knew she and Stephen Collins were the only two cast members to appear in every single episode!) and sings "Heaven on Earth" from her self-titled CD:

She seems fun and down-to-earth, doesn't she? Do you guys plan to pick up Bev's CD -- or do you have it already? Tell us what you think!

Post of the Week: These Are Fighting Words

"I am bitterly disappointed about the segment about tattoos. I may not watch anymore. The idea of a man of God having one... Read: “You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks upon you” (Lev. 19:28). This is outragious. I was bitterly disappointed." - Mary Overmyer, in response to 7th Heaven: The Tattoos That Wagged a Thousand Tongues

Do you agree with Mary? Are you done with 7th Heaven after the writers gave every member of the Camden family permanent artwork on their bodies? We see her point, but we'd love to see this season end with a Ruthie/T-Bone nuptial! How about that?! Food for thought for the weekend, Sourcesters!

7th Heaven: The Tattoos That Wagged a Thousand Tongues

Have a few tattoos EVER caused so much controversy? Ruthie and T-Bone's new body art had the entire town of Glenoak freaking out. Kevin, eager to get the scoop, bribed Mac to find out the truth. Meanwhile, Lucy flipped out on Kevin... turns out she has a tattoo of her own. And so do all the other Camden siblings! This is the show's 11th season, and we're just finding this out? Best of all, Reverend Camden and Annie totally knew, and they've enjoyed watching the kids anxiously try to hide their tattoos over the years.

We wish their laid-back attitude could have extended to the spying, though. It wouldn't be 7th Heaven without family gossip, but last night's episode seemed especially heavy on the "Don't tell her I told you!" kind of gossip.

In a climactic moment that could only happen on 7th Heaven, Ruthie announced that she had something to confess to her parents -- just as Lucy, Savannah, Kevin, Sandy, and half the town appeared in the Camden kitchen with their own confessions. After all that, Ruthie announced that she hated her tattoo. We were shocked to see that while T-Bone had a tiny tattoo of Ruthie's initials, Ruthie went all-out with a rather large "T-Bone" spelled out across her backside. That one won't be easy to cover up.

What'd you think of Ruthie's tattoo -- and the controversy it inspired? And what about the promise ring from T-Bone? What surprised you the most about last night's episode? Discuss in the comments!

It's a CW Mash-up: Because I Said So

What is it about the upcoming flick "Because I Said So" that makes us want to run to the theater this weekend with Mom and a gaggle of girlfriends?

Is it that this is the first powerhouse chick flick of the year? Hey, after a January that included such, er, classic releases as "Epic Movie" and "Code Name: The Cleaner," we think we've waited long enough for a quality girly movie... and we can only go see "The Holiday" so many times.

Is it the gloriously catchy, let's-throw-our-hands-up-and-embrace-our-destiny, Natasha Bedingfield girl power soundtrack?

Or is it that we need something decidedly X-chromosome-y to counteract the testosterone-fueled Super Bowl mania of this weekend?

Well, it might be a little of all of those things. But most importantly, two of our favorites from The CW are starring! Stephen Collins -- 7th Heaven's Reverend Camden -- steps out of his churchgoing gear to play Diane Keaton's hunky new love interest. And Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham plays one of Diane's well-meaning daughters, along with actress/songbird Mandy Moore and former Coyote Ugly gal Piper Perabo. Plus, there's the return of Tom Everett Scott, who you might remember from "That Thing You Do."

We can't wait to watch Diane and Mandy's characters date, freak out, and console each other on the rocky road to love and maturity. Want a sneak peek? Here are a few more cute pics:

Will you be checking out "Because I Said So" this weekend? Tell us what you think in the comments!

7th Heaven: T-Bone Can't Catch a Break

Poor Ruthie and T-Bone. The kids just can't get a break. On last night's 7th Heaven, they tried to find places to make out, but when that didn't work so well, T-Bone decided it was time to get his driver's license. One major obstacle: Kevin Kinkirk.

We're not sure what to think of Kevin's behavior. On one hand, the guy's overprotective ways could be interpreted as charming -- after all, he just wants what's best for Ruthie. But was he going overboard with his ultra-specific driving questions (stuff that T-Bone would probably never need to know)? Maybe Ruthie and T-Bone should be trusted to make their own decisions.

They don't have many supporters, though. Even Annie was all, "I trust you, Ruthie, and I trust T-Bone. But I trust you more when one of us is around." Ruthie pouted (and NO ONE pouts better than Ruthie), but Annie stood firm.

Meanwhile, Lucy and Eric found out that the deacons think their sermons aren't exactly luring in the youth demographic. Lucy proceeded to explode: "I'm young! I'm hip!" Uh, Luce, we love you, but you're not exactly cutting-edge.

In the end, T-Bone finally stood up for himself and told Kevin that if and when he and Ruthie decide to take it to the next level, it's their business and their business alone. We couldn't help but root for the guy. It's got to be tough to date a Camden girl AND find some privacy. What do you think? Should T-Bone and Ruthie cool off, or are they entitled to a little alone time?

7th Heaven: Isn't It Ironic?

7th Heaven
Slate revealed its 10 most-read stories of 2006, and if you scroll down to number 10... you have the e-zine's coverage of 7th Heaven's season finale, 7th Heaven Goes to Heaven.

But as we all now know, the show came back for an 11th season. And you thought the timeless family drama's, er, time had run out! Are you glad it came back? Do you still watch? How do you think this season should end? Perhaps better than last year's did?

Ruthie's Back, But She's Not Happy

Finally! After a long wait, 7th Heaven's getting its edge back with a guest appearance from Mackenzie Rosman -- Ruthie!

That doesn't mean that Ruthie's happy to be there, though. Apparently Annie and Eric are flying to Scotland to bring her home -- against her will! Will Ruthie pout her way through the episode, or will she give us some trademark zingers? Either way, we can't wait to see her this Sunday. Can you?

The CW Star of the Week: Stephen Collins

Stephen Collins
Birth name: Stephen Weaver Collins

Where you can catch him: As Reverend Eric Camden on 7th Heaven, Sundays at 8/7c

Why we heart him: If Tom Hanks wasn't already crowned Hollywood's Top Nice Guy, we'd give
the title to Stephen, whose career spans decades. Not only is he an actor, but he's also a musician and author of two novels, Eye Contact and Double Exposure.

Did you know? You can see him next in the upcoming Warner Bros. release Blood Diamond, co-starring Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly and Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio. Not too shabby!

For more about Stephen, check out his official Web site!

Do you dig The Rev as much as we do? Is he your favorite character on 7th? He's definitely ours!

Ruthie, How Do We Miss You? Let Us Count The Ways:

Ruthie didn't have a whole lot to do last season on 7th Heaven -- she spent most of her time moping about her unrequited crush on Martin. Okay, there was that Michael Feinstein teacher episode where she discovered the wonders of music -- but it was just a small break from the angsty Ruthie we'd grown used to.

Now that Mackenzie Rosman's taking a break from 7th Heaven, though, we have to admit we kind of miss Ruthie (it sounds like a lot of you do, too). Why, you ask? Well, we'll start you off -- feel free to post your own reasons:

1. No one knew how to stomp off quite like Ruthie.
2. She's supposed to be with Martin... if we had another season, he might've developed similar feelings.
3. We were looking forward to seeing how she'd turn out -- would she be as rebellious as Mary, or get married young like Lucy? Or none of the above?
4. Ruthie and Annie scenes were some of our favorites. Last season's Moving Ahead episode reinforced their bond, and it was nice to see.
5. Without Ruthie, the main characters are all a bit older -- there's no one between Martin/Sandy/Lucy's age range and the twins. We enjoyed the high school storylines and resulting drama that came along with Ruthie's storylines.
6. It was fun watching Ruthie grow up over the years. Check out the Ruthie photo gallery for lots more pics!

What do you think? Do you miss Ruthie? Think we'll get a guest appearance from her later this season? Or are you happy to see her go?

Beverley Mitchell Talks to TVGuide.com: "I Have the Best Job in the World"

Beverley Mitchell has played Lucy on 7th Heaven for over a decade. Check out her interview with TVGuide.com about why people identify with Lucy, who she's close to off-camera, and why we'll be surprised by 7th Heaven's record-breaking 11th season. There's no discussion of Lucy's record-breaking number of jealous outbursts, though...

Duff Sisters Can't Get Enough -- Of Each Other

The DuffsDo these sisters ever spend time apart? Not only do they regularly hit red-carpet events together, but the Duff sisters (Hilarie and Haylie, for those who don't follow their every move) spill in this video that they share a house in LA and rarely fight. Check out the video and see what you think.

So far Haylie hasn't brought Hilarie on to guest-star on 7th Heaven... but there's always next season (we can see it now -- Hilarie shows up as Ruthie's new friend, seeking advice from Reverend Camden on her sinful ways!)

They're a tight twosome, that's for sure. We have to ask -- are any real sisters as close as the Duff sisters? And will you be going to see this movie, or are you not a fan of the Duff duo?

Tragedy on 7th Heaven?

A few days ago, we asked if you thought 7th Heaven would still be the same without all its stars. Many of you thought the show would lose something if Mackenzie Rosman and David Gallagher didn't return.

Some recent spoilers on TVGuide.com (don't click if you don't want to know) have us pondering the fate of Ruthie and Simon (of the remaining Camden kids, only Beverly Mitchell has signed for Season 11). Haven't those Camden kids seen enough gloom and doom for one lifetime?

What Do Chad Michael Murray, Jessica Biel, and 50 Cent Have in Common?

We couldn't think of a single thing this mismatched trio has in common, but it turns out they're all starring in a new flick, Home of the Brave (check out its IMDB page), a movie about three soldiers adjusting to home life after a tour of duty in Iraq. Samuel L. Jackson also stars. Looks like another step in the direction of serious films for Jessica -- see our post below on her latest movie, The Illusionist, for more in that vein.

But Chad? A war movie is quite a change from House of Wax, that Paris Hilton vehicle he starred in that didn't exactly garner four-star reviews. Heck, it's quite a change from his role Lucas on One Tree Hill... and Tristan on Gilmore Girls... and most of the other roles Chad's known for. He tends to stick with what he does best -- playing thoughtful, melancholy guys that make young women swoon.

So is Chad taking his career in a new direction? Or will he brood his way through Home of the Brave, too? We haven't seen or heard much about this movie yet, so we'll wait to cast our vote... but that doesn't stop us from asking what you think!

7th Heaven Star Speculation

7th Heaven will be back for an 11th season, but will all its stars be back as well? Latest word is most of the Camden clan will return, but Mackenzie Rosman (Ruthie C) and David Gallagher (Simon C) are still in limbo. Do you want them back? Will you watch if Ruthie and Simon leave? What kind of storylines would you like to see for them and the rest of the gang in Season 11?
