Walt finishes off the rest of The 33 Newsroom Anti-bacterial soap

Swine Flu seems to be on everyone's mind. And whether you think it is getting over-hyped or not, we seem to be talking about it a lot in The 33 Newsroom... Today we talked about it at length in our afternoon meeting (where the news director leads a discussion about last night's newscast, and day's stories.)

We spent about 35 minutes talking about all the different angles we could cover.... Rebecca Miller even brought in her special hand sanitizer to show us -- it has moisturizer in it and it is made here in North Texas. It seems like everyone is trying to get a hold of the hand sanitizer-- and Walt (hoping to stay Swine Flu free) finished off the gigantic supply we have on the news desk.

So... Barry left the afternoon meeting to rush out and cover the daily news conference on the Swine Flu. Since he's our health reporter he's basically had the Swine Flu gig all week....

He got back from the conference at the exact same time Lewisville ISD called Amanda, and told her that they were closing down all the campuses. That's when we had a little impromptu pow-wow at Mark's desk (he's the Monday - Friday producer) and Barry was rushed back out the door- to Lewisville to talk to parents and students.

The goal today was to cover the swine flu, without overreacting or scaring anyone. I hope anyone who watched the newscast Friday night, got that impression.

My son attends Winfree Academy, Grapevine, I saw that it has been closed on the news. However, I could not find anywhere, if in fact there was a confirmed or a probable case (or why it was closed). Do you have any more info.?

Thanks
