Got Milk? At Mother's Milk Bank, there's not enough
I've never heard of a mother's milk shortage, but that's why they call it news. I was nosing around for a story the other day and called the Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas in Fort Worth. The story I originally called about didn't pan out, but I was told there's a huge shortage of donated milk. The same amount of mothers are donating, the same amound of premies are in the ICU, so what's the deal? There is apparently an unusually large number of babies who were born VERY early. One baby was born in March, her due date was July 23rd. The mother's daughter survived on donated milk. We saw another tiny baby in a similar situation. This business never ceases to amaze me. A shortage of mother's milk? Who knew? Now, we do.
