Melanoma Drug: Showing promise

PLX4032. No name, just PLX4032. It's a the melanoma drug that a small study shows to shrink tumors. That is good news here in Texas. Everything is bigger here, including the number of cases of melanoma. Texas ranks third behind California and Florida is the number of cases. Nine thousand Americans will die this year from melanoma. Which brings me back to PLX4032. It was a small test, I mean small. In the Phase 1 trial 9 out of 16 melanoma patients who were given the test drug had their tumors shrink by 30 percent. Let's hope the drug with no name in the tiny study will someday have a huge impact on the lives of people who suffer from advanced stages of melanoma.
