The OTR (Off The Record) Lunch Trip

robandmark.JPGHamburger. Or "Critter" as Producer Mark calls it.

It must be one of the best meals you can possibly eat. I LOVE hamburgers. I WILL not eat them every day, however. I normally eat salads. But the quest to find a good hamburger is NEVER ending.

I just moved here from Austin . In Austin you get hamburgers at Sandy's on Barton Springs. $2.49 for a burger, drink and fries. It really is the perfect meal.

And here in Dallas there are soo many options. I've been to a few... Snuffers, Twisted Root, Jake's, Angry Dog.

So you can imagine my excitement when I saw this:

It is a story on what Anchor Brian Williams called President Barack Obama's very OTR (off the record) Trip to a mysterious location called "Five Guys." Brian Williams said the burger joint was first discovered by the first lady.

"What is this "Five Guys?" I asked Assistant News Director Rob. (he just moved here from Washington D.C.) "It must be super delicious if the President was willing to go to all that trouble to get it."

"Yes it is really good. One of the best burgers ever." Rob responded. Then I stopped listening to him because he talks too much.... UNTIL he said this: "and there are TWO Five Guys in Dallas."

WHAT THE HECK!?!  Why am I just finding out about this. I was shocked.  I consider my self a HUGE foodie. So I was highly disappointed I didn't know about a huge hamburger chain serving up such a perfectly reviewed snack!

We immediately made plans to go.

Fast forward to TODAY! TODAY was the day. Mark, Rob and I made a SPECIAL trip to the Five Guys in the Galleria before work. I will compare OUR journey- to the president's.

picturesmeandmark.JPG 1. Unlike the president... we did not have an entourage or a famous journalist with us. However like the president- we had paparazzi! (me ... taking pictures.. for this blog)

2. Unlike Brian Williams- we liked lots of ingredients on our burgers. I got grilled onions, mustard, mayo, tomato, lettuce. Brian Williams got just ketchup! How boring.

3. Finally LIKE the president, I am now addicted. We are planning another trip in one month. I THINK this place is AWESOME. I just wish it was closer so we could go more often.

Brian Williams finishes out his segment saying- "Now operating on a fast food high - the White House continues as usual."

last picture.JPG We headed to work right after our lunch. And I can tell you... it wasn't so much of a high, but more of a sluggish crawl. We were full. And sleepy. But it was worth it.
