GM Opens Doors
About half of the 2,300 employees at GM's Arlington assembly plant went back to work today, following an 8 week furlough. The rest follow suit tomorrow. Everyone we talked to called it a blessing, after 2 months of partial pay or unemployment.
It isn't all fast-lane, however; the group must take a two week "vacation" next month as part of recent contract agreements. Those with vacation time can use it; those without, go unpaid.
Employees we spoke with are nervous about the future, but say they'll focus on doing the job at hand, hoping to make GM the go-to car company, once again.
