It's routine surgery, if it's not on you

Airman Colton Read graduated from Arlington's Sam Houston High School. He joined the Air Force and everything was going well, until he went in for routine gallbladder surgery. It was anything but routine. Family members say they were told a doctor at David Grant Medical Cente, nicked his aortic valve, Colton was rushed to UC Medical Center in Sacramento, Calfornia, but he had lost too much blood and his legs had to be amputated. The hospital is investigating exactly what happened and is promising to get to the bottom of the problem. I don't know what the problem is or what the cure will be, but this I know: There is no such thing as a routine surgery. To learn more about Colton, click on our links section on the home page.
