NTTA only game in town?

NTTA will vote on raising tolls on the Dallas North Tollway and the Bush Turnpike Thursday. The increase will cost drivers an additional 3-and-half-cents per mile. Coincidentally another big meeting related to tolls will be held Thursday. Leaders representing 9 area counties will discuss the future of toll roads in North Texas. The Regional Transportation Council is expected to approve a resolution that would require any future private or public toll road operators to let NTTA in on the action. The resolution states the operators are "encouraged" to
let NTTA provide it's services so customers would have a uniform system. The resolution also states anyone not working with NTTA would need to provide a written explanation to the RTC as to why. It "did not" state that Tony Soprano would be making a visit if NTTA was not given its share of the deal. JG
