Sting, and I'm not talking the Police variety
There are plenty of insects in north Texas. For most people, they are nothing more than party-crashers. But for about 5% of the population, one sting from a fire ant or wasp can be life threatening. A New York skateboarding legend was stung by a wasp, had a heart attack and died. We talked to a 33 News intern today who has to wear a Medic Alert bracelet when she may be in an environment where there may be fire ants, which in Texas, is EVERYWHERE. She had a hard time breathing one time and had to be rushed to get medical help. Here is the problem with insect allergies, you don't really know it until your stung. An estimated 15 million Americans are at risk for potentially life threatening reactions to insect stings.
