The Courage of a Mother
I spoke with a woman
yesterday who accidentally ran over one of her own children with a car this weekend. It's a kind of grief, a depth of grief none of us should presume to be able to understand. Period.Sandra spoke to me with so much grace and poise that even now, a day later, I struggle to believe it. She was at times difficult to understand through the sobbing. Hers was gut-wrenching, feel-it-down-to-your-knees, can't control herself, sadness.
She showed me her "angel's" picture. It was a beautiful family portrait in which the boy's mouth was open in a laugh and his eyes sparkled. You could easily see why she sees him as that angel.
Sandra and family...
you are in my thoughts. I wish you peace.
