A week of swine

Better known as H1N1 these days. I think I did three H1N1 stories this week. I know some people out there consider it hype, but the numbers I hear are pretty serious, especially since the the vaccine for the general public still hasn't been delivered. I leave you this weekend with the following information. 25% of people hospitalized with H1N1 end up in ICU. 7% of those end up dead. Kids are especially impacted by H1N1. Since April, 76 kids have died from H1N1, 16 in the past week. Compare those numbers to the seasonal flu, which kills between 46 and 88 kids a year. Until as many people who want to be vaccinated, get vaccinated, I don't think H1N1 is hype. We may be sick of it, but it's not hype. Even if it is hype, at least it's not Dancing With the Stars or American Idol hype.
