Death Sentence Questioned: Panel Member Speaks
No doubt you have heard there is a very public debate about whether the state executed an innocent man five years ago. Cameron Todd Willingham was sent to his death for setting a house fire in Corsicana that killed his three young daughters.
Since his execution, critics have claimed that investigators used "junk science" to convict him. A panel is now looking into the matter and one of the newest appointees says he takes the responsibility very seriously. Fort Worth attorney, Lance Evans is on the panel. Imagine being on the commission that must decide if an innocent man was strapped to a guerney and given a lethal cocktail of drugs.
We will have to wait a few months to see what the commission decides. If they rule it wasn't an arson fire, open the flood gates because there will be far-reaching ramifications.
