Did you just take one?

Every year there was that one house on the block that had the lights out and one big bowl of candy at the front door on Halloween night.  There was a sign on it that read, "Please Take One."  That bowl was pretty full if you got there early.  But, there was always that one kid who dumped the whole bowl into his or her bag.  Little did all the ghouls and gobblins know they were facing a character test. Ya know, my dad always said or quoted someone who said, "The true test of character is doing the right thing even when other people aren't looking."  Dads say that stuff so it plays in your mind at decision time.  Good move pops. Alright, come clean time.  I didn't always just take one. BUT, I never felt right dumping the whole mother load into my bag.  I knew I'd have to face the music when I dumped out all my loot at the end of the night.  I'm sure my parents would have asked, "Hmmm, why do you have 250 Smarties in your bag?"
