Fragile
I'm amazed at how fragile we are. Nobody gets out alive but it's amazing how many life threatening medical issues are out there just waiting to happen. One of them is stroke. Miss Hawaii Teen Sheryl Wolfe died today after suffering what is being described as a massive stroke. Sheryl was 18. I made a phone call or two and found that stroke is a top ten killer of kids. It's one of those things you simply don't associate with kids but a doctor at Children's Medical Center in Dallas sees them all the time. The pediatric stroke team has already treated about 350 kids this year.
I've reported hundreds of health stories and it never ceases to amaze me how lucky we are to have our health. I know I often take it for granted but when a health 18 year old beauty queen with no family history of disease dies of stroke it becomes a reality check.
The reality is we can be here now and gone in a second.
I hope to blog again tomorrow.

I am a multiple stroke survivor! I was 19 years old-went through Parkland and was not properly diagnosed for 6 months! I thank you for broadcasting this. Going through that 6 months was harder than the rehab I endured! I am a very lucky person!
