Two Strikes and Drunk Drivers are out?
Texas could be setting another legal first with a controversial proposal to crackdown on repeat drunk drivers. State Senator, Jane Nelson, wants a two-strike rule. A second DWI offense would mean a revocation of a person's drivers license.
It was a recent crash in Lewisville that prompted Nelson to propose the new law. A teenage girl and her mother were killed when a man with three previous DWI convictions slammed into the family's car. Barton still had a valid driver's license.
Critics say there are better methods to prevent drunk driving like sobriety checks and ignition interlock devices for first time offenders. Let the debate begin.
