Violent attack frightens Dallas Uptown
When you drive through Uptown in Dallas you see plenty of splashy restaurants and expensive townhomes. For most, the area seems like a safe, secure place where crime is almost non-existant.
That is why a recent assault on a young woman has many so frightened. The 29-year old woman was parked in front of the Gables, waiting for a friend when a man hopped in her passenger side door and stuck boxcutters in her side. He told her to drive, but being clever she told him the car didn't work. He got mad, took her purse and left.
The attack has women walking together and business owners making plans to beef up security. Merchants don't want patrons to be scared away by the act. There is a volunteer security force in the works. Police say the attack is evidence that crime can happen anywhere, even in broad daylight.
