Message in a Bottle

The FDA is out to save your skin. It's about time. I recenty went to the drug store to buy a bottle of sunscreen and I was amazed at the vast and confusing line of products. UVA, UVB, SPF led me to believe I was SOL.

But fear not, the FDA is going to save my skin by recommending labeling changes that may include a star rating system to give consumers a better idea how all of those chemicals in the bottle will protect your skin. The more stars the better. The FDA is also considernig changing the term 'water proof' to 'water resistant.'

The FDA was expected to announce the new guidelines last month but now it looks like October at the earliest.

My advice to consumers, and I say this because I know--staring at the confusing sunscreen labels can make you go blind.
