Summer Danger: As Close as the Backyard
Most parents say, "it could never happen to me". But, a Colleyville couple knows it can. Christina and Steven Barnard's toddler drowned in the family's backyard pool. Christina says she looked away for just a few seconds and it happened that fast. Dylan was a good swimmer and never went near the pool.
The Barnard's tragedy highlights how quickly a deadly accident can happen in the pool. Last year Texas saw a record number of child drownings, most of them in swimming pools and bathtubs. 105 children died in what are preventable deaths.
The Barnard's are asking paretns to be extra cautious. They have their faith to get them through this tragedy. They are also creating a positive force. They have set up a charity in Dylan's name to create water wells in Africa. Even though water took their child, they are now bringing it to other children, to save lives. http://bit.ly/DawnStories
