How close is too close?

Southlake is considering its first gas well proposal, but this one is drawing a lot of concern. The plan by XTO Energy would put several rigs within about 800 feet of Grapevine High School and baseball practice fields. Some parents are concerned about toxic emissions and other problems that can come with a nearby rig.
There is also interest because Southlake, which does have a drilling ordinance, would not allow a rig that close to a school in its own city. Some are asking why put it so close to a neighboring district? There are still many details to be worked out, but you can expect a lot of debate.
