New ordinance gives illegal booting the boot

Happy New Year!

Patrons and businesses in Deep Ellum are certainly looking forward to the booting ordinance that goes into effect today. They say they were fed up with parking lot operators immobilizing cars after drivers paid for parking spaces. Now, Deep Ellum parking lot companies must provide a receipt -- either from an attendant or a machine -- or risk losing their license. 

The rules will spread to the rest of Dallas over the next year. More to come at 5:30 and 9 p.m. on The 33 News.

Plumbers get busy during deep freeze

As the temperatures drop, the plumbing business heats up. 

One local plumbing business actually said it was too busy to allow us to shoot them in action today.

The culprits? Bursting pipes and faulty hot water heaters in this freezing weather. We'll give you tips on how to avoid plumbing problems at 5:30 and 9 p.m.

Dallas County Selling Bling of Criminals, Corpses

Need a great deal on a Valentine's Day gift? Dallas County may have the perfect piece of bling for you -- if you don't mind vintage. 

From now until Jan. 28, the county will auction off hundreds of pieces of jewelry that came from criminal seizures and the bodies of unidentified corpses.
